Taken from the Ordinance Survey Memoirs 1833. We don't have much information about the harbor given it was no longer in operation from the mid 1800s or so, therefore we welcome any additional information.

Tom McIntyre states the whole lagoon from Carraig an tSudaire to Oilean Mor would have been the harbour.
Doaghbeg was so populous in the 1820s that the plan was to establish a main fishing port for the herring industry.

The harbour referred to the natural shelter of the lagoon. The 1820 Montgomery report considered the potential of the gaps in the 'Colbhai' were filled by stonework for development.
